WILL KENDRICK LAMAR OWN JAY-Z’S FIRST ALBUM ?

Good Kid, Reasonable Doubt

After an old tweet about Jay-Z and Nas resurfaced, Dame Dash gave Kendrick Lamar an opportunity at a stake in Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt debut.

In June 2010, Kendrick noted on Twitter (then X) that Reasonable Doubt outperformed Illmatic. #youcanunfollowmenow.”

Dame shared a screenshot of the article on Instagram on Thursday (June 6) and wrote: “@kendricklamar my 3rd is for sale if you want to buy it. Any serious proposals DM.” Kendrick has not commented.

Dash formed Roc-A-Fella Records with JAY-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke in 1994 and owns a third. After years of financial trouble, he was barred from selling his shares in the iconic record company.

A judge ordered Dame to sell his ownership in the studio after he reportedly refused to pay Josh Weber $823,000 for the 2016 film Dear Frank.

Hov and Biggs objected to the sale since the board of directors must approve it.

Can I Live?

“In 2021, I was trying to sell my shares at public auction,” Dash said of the stalled sale. “The Jay and Biggs lawsuit or Roc-A-Fella Inc. lawsuit claimed I was trying to sell all the shares. Im Roc-A-Fella’s CEO. Jay pretended to be Roc-A-Fella’s CEO. He represented Roc-A-Fella Inc. in a lawsuit against me. Jay’s lawyers were paid by me and Roc-A-Fella Inc.”

Dash has also been accused of not controlling the sale of his shares, despite the record executive saying he could sell to anyone.

The Harlem native hinted selling his label share to Cam’ron and Ma$e before making a public offer to Kendrick Lamar.

“I’m just celebrating the fact I can freely sell it and that I can sell it to Cam and Ma$e,” he stated on America Nu Network in March.

“I haven’t denied it. Like passing the torch. I like their work. They persisted. We all came from Harlem, and it would be fun to have them run Roc-A-Fella.”
